About Us

A1 Racing Club is run by and for our members. We are a non profit making organisation, any monies made put back into the club to maintain and update our facilites. The running and building of the club and track facilities has been acheived by members volunteering their own time, effort and money.

We are known as a friendly and relaxed club where beginners are always made very welcome and encouraged to get involved in a great hobby. We have a wealth of experienced drivers who are always on hand to offer help and advice.

We race on a weekly basis - Tuesday evening being club night throughout the year. Outdoors during the lighter nights of summer at our own purpose built track at Gonerby Moor, near Grantham. Nitro 1/8th buggies and truggies, and 1/10th electric 2wd, 4wd drive buggies and Short course trucks raced on a 4 x 5 min heat basis.

Winter Club nights are held in an indoor venue at Arena UK Equestrian centre, Allington - just the other side of the A1 from our own track. There we have a carpet track with various features to make things more interesting - racing 1/10th electric buggies and short course trucks.

As well as our regular club racing we host other race events and have seperate bash days to allow beginners and seasoned racers to practice and use the Gonerby Moor track.

Thursday evenings are practice and newbie nights to allow the less experienced some valuable track time without the pressure of timing and competition.

Club Race Meeting

Depending on the number of drivers we usually run 3 rounds of 5 minute races, with 10 minute finals.

Results are calculated by FTQ (Fastest Time in Qualifying) and are used towards the monthly series.

Race timing is provided by AMB Transponders and BBK Software.

Non members must prove they have BRCA insurance in order to race

2012 Membership

A1 Racing Club membership is for a full 12 months and entitles you to:

  • Access to the Gonerby Moor Track 365 days a year
  • Discounted race fees
  • Discounts at Access Models
  • Discounts at A1 Hobbies Ltd
  • Discounted practice/bash fees

Once you have raced three times at A1 Racing you will need to become a member of the BRCA to continue racing. A1 Racing Club is a BRCA affiliated club. (Affiliation No. 5586)

BRCA membership runs from January to December and is renewable annually. If you apply via A1 Racing Club you are also entitled you to a small discount. Some of the benefits of BRCA membership are:

  • Third party insurance cover whenever and wherever you use your radio control car.
  • A copy of the BRCA Handbook
  • Regular BRCA Chatter Circuit magazine
  • A vote at the BRCA AGM
